Coaching Sessions to Support Ukraine
Want to support Ukrainian people fleeing war and support your emotional/mental well-being at the same time? Keep reading.
While I recognize that my geopolitical understanding of the Russian Invasion in Ukraine is limited. I feel it is important to both publicly state my position, and take some form of action that is aligned with my core values of compassion, integrity, community, and justice.
An opportunity to invest in both Ukrainian people and yourself
After watching aggression and violence unfold over the last few weeks, I’ve decided to offer a limited time opportunity to invest in both supporting Ukrainian people AND yourself at the same time.
How?
I’m committing to offering coaching services in the form of individual, one-off sessions in exchange for “choose your price” donations of $40 or more: 100% of which will then be donated to United Help Ukraine, which is a charitable non-profit 501(c)3 organization. United Help Ukraine provides both medical aid and humanitarian relief to those who have been displaced from their homes.
Why?
Because as we speak, the largest ground war in Europe since WWII is taking place, and the Ukrainian people have shown exceptional bravery in fighting for their freedom and standing up to the authoritarian oligarch, Vladimir Putin. Already, at the time I’m writing this, more than 600,000 civilians have fled Ukraine, according to the UN.
The European Union (EU) estimates that up to four million people may try to leave the country because of the Russian invasion. Each of these hundreds of thousands of human beings have had their entire lives thrown into chaos within a matter of days. Today (Tuesday) Satellite images showed a 40-mile-long Russian military convoy approaching Ukraine‘s capital of Kyiv. And so far, hundreds of Ukrainian civilians have already been hurt or killed.
Although I may not personally have the purchasing power to throw large sums of money towards humanitarian aid, I can take action. I do have a service I can offer in exchange for help in supporting Ukrainian people. And you can take action too, by contributing in whatever way you are able (whether it be through this opportunity or choosing to support other human beings in whatever ways feel right to you)
My hope is that, together, we will provide a bit more aid by dedicating some time and resources to an important cause, and that our efforts will touch the lives of a few people who really need it right now.
What?
Before you decide whether you’re interested in donating and/or having a session, I’d like to be very clear about what coaching is and is not. Because so many people misunderstand what it is exactly that I am offering.
Coaching is NOT like other helping professions such as therapy, counseling, or even consulting. Coaching is NOT about fixing anything about anybody, and it does NOT consist of a coach offering what they think is the best “solution” to a person’s topic. It is a profession that operates under the assumption that each person holds the best answers to their own lives within themselves.
This means that a coach’s job is NOT to give advice or tell people what to do. (I personally believe most of us already have too many people telling us what they think we should do with our lives, and I certainly don’t want to add to the pile!)
Instead, coaching is an open dialogue through which people have a chance to process their thoughts in a confidential space. This gives people a chance to get in touch with the wisdom and resilience that already exists within themselves.
It’s really important to me that people understand coaching is a peer-based relationship, meaning that myself and the people I work with are always unequivocal equals in conversation with one another.
In addition, I believe the most important aspect of my job is this: I hold a safe space for people to be and express their true selves in a society that constantly asks them to change, silence, or adjust themselves to be deemed acceptable or worthy of love and/or belonging.
My clients report experiencing more confidence in dealing with their own thoughts and emotions, clarity in their decision making, stronger self-compassion, and improved communication skills.
Here’s a recent review from one of my clients
Morgan is an outstanding coach to work with. She is empowering yet delicate in the way she communicates. She is nurturing and helps you push your own envelope in whatever task it may be you are struggling on. I appreciate the way Morgan can bring out concepts and ideas I have trouble voicing. I am always learning something new and growing as an individual with her guidance. I am so lucky to work with her! If you are debating it, give it a try, she is worth your time and money!
